Information on Departments

The Pharmacy Department consists of an Inpatient Pharmacy, three Outpatient Pharmacies and a Home Health Pharmacy. The Inpatient Pharmacy, which operates 24/7, maintains a closed formulary system and monitors dosing on all renally-impaired patients and for all narrow therapeutic index drugs. All pharmacists rotate through distributive as well as clinical services. The Outpatient Pharmacy works in close association with UMC's Neighborhood Health Centers, serving as a resource to the physicians of the centers and counseling each patient on new medications. The Home Health Pharmacy provides services for the hospital's long-term intravenous therapy patients. The pharmacist monitors all aspects of the care of the patient, including physician and nursing visits.
