University Medical Center of El Paso is the only Level 1 Trauma Center within a 270-mile radius. Our services are verified through the American College of Surgeons and we are designated in both the State of Texas and the State of New Mexico as a vital part of their trauma system. Being a Level 1 Trauma Center requires having a full-range of specialties and resources available
24 hours a day and involves coordination of trauma care delivery among other trauma centers, EMS transport teams, and state and local government agencies. Through use of the trauma registry data and in working with established community coalitions, programs targeting our community's needs are continually reviewed. We offer car seat inspections, the "I Drive Safely" program, Water Safety, and other events such as: the Regional Forum, Biennial Town Hall Meeting, Youth Conference, Bi-National Rally on the River, and Red Ribbon Rally; all aimed at educating our community to make safe choices and to prevent trauma from happening. As a Level 1 Trauma Center, University Medical Center has established a lead role in substance abuse screening and offers intervention to those affected by trauma. Our goal is to prevent further injury to our patients and their families and to work toward a healthier community by identification and treatment of those affected by drugs and alcohol. As a Level 1 Trauma Center, we are a leader in Professional Healthcare Education, offering courses such as ATLS, TNCC, and ATCN on a regular basis.

We hope you will consider joining us in our mission to care for the El Paso community!
